Prince Planning Two-Night Stands Across the West Coast in April and May.

Prince has been busy over the past six months, releasing a string of new material and playing a handful of surprise shows, including closing out Austin’s South By Southwest last weekend.

It all started back in September when the 80’s pop icon, who’s managed to stay relevant over the years, released a brand new single, “Rock n Roll Love Affair,” which was first played on Chicago’s iHeartRadio conveniently before his “Welcome to Chicago” 2012 mini residency.

“RnR Affair” features samples from the classic 1982 double LP Prince, making it an interesting, yet familiar-sounding track.

Since then, Prince has made several surprise performances, including joining Mary J. Blige on stage in Las Vegas during her performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, playing “Sweet Thing,” and “Nothing Compares to U” together (watch videos here).

Once 2013 rolled around, more and more new songs began to “leak” onto the web. In particular, songs were published at two mysterious websites ( and, the first of which now redirects to On those websites, fans can find videos and downloads of new songs like “Screwdriver,” “Breakfast Can Wait,” “Boyfriend,” “Bambi,” and “That Girl Thing,” among others. (Watch him rock “Bambi” and “Screwdriver” on Jimmy Fallon below).

However, the biggest news came just yesterday, as the Artist Currently and Formerly Known as Prince is set to take off on a West Coast trek during the months of April and May.

The best part is, he’ll be playing smaller clubs, making it the perfect opportunity to see one of the better-renown musicians live. Things will start off with Prince playing four shows (over two days) at Vancouver‘s Vogue Theatre April 15th and 16th before heading down the coast. All stops will include day and night shows over back-to-back nights in each city.

The lucky cities include:

Full Prince tour dates and tickets.

Nothing has been set in stone, but fans can probably expect a show similar to that he gave while closing out Austin’s SXSW Festival this past weekend. Prince played La Zona Rosa and, according to Rolling Stone, delivered a 2 hour and 40 minute performance songs from throughout his massive catalogue.
