Paul McCartney Plans New Album for 2012
Paul McCartney, whose kept a fairly low profile since his summer U.S. stadium tour, announced yesterday his plans to release a new album in 2012, which is due out February 7th.
The majority of the tracks from the yet-to-be-named album will be covers of songs that influenced McCartney‘s musical tastes as a child. They’ll “offer a glimpse into ‘the songs which inspired the songs’” of McCartney’s vast portfolio, providing a “deeply personal journey through classic American compositions that, in some cases, a young Paul first heard his father perform on piano at home”.
The album should offer an interesting take on the songs, as well as portray McCartney in a light we’ve never seen before. He enlisted Diana Krall and her band to perform musically, which left Paul to work “exclusively in the vocal booth without [any] instrument – no guitar, no bass, no piano – which led to a vocal performance like no other in his career.”
The best news is that the album will offer two new Paul McCartney tracks, “My Valentine” and “Only Our Hearts”. The new tracks feature Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder. We’re definitely digging “My Valentine” (take a listen below).
