Eminem, born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, started rapping at the age of 14 under the name of M&M performing at many rap battles. He quickly gained approval with underground rap fans. In 1997, after achieving second place in The Rap Olympics, CEO of Interscope Records Jimmy Iovine took notice and brought back a demo tape for record producer Dr. Dre. The two collaborated together to record tracks for Eminem's first major record label album. The Slim Shady LP debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 charts. The albums he has released have all been great successes. Hits in the United States include the songs Lose Yourself, Crack a Bottle, Not Afraid and Love the Way You Lie. He was given the title of King of Hip Hop by Rolling Stone magazine and Best Rapper Alive by Vive Magazine. He has been nominated for 20 Grammy Awards - winning eight times. Eminem has had many successful concert tours. He teamed up with Jay-Z for the Home and Home Tour that sold out two shows at both Comerica Park and Yankee Stadium.
