The National is a band created in Cincinnati, Ohio. They are currently based out of New York City. Matt Beringer is the lead singer and writer for the lyrics. The band formed together in 1999, but originally got together in 1991. The previous members were Matt Berninger, Scott Devendorf, Mike Brewer, Casey Reas and Jeff Salem. Now, the National currently has Matt Berninger, Aaron Dessner, Bryce Dessner, Bryan Devendorf and Aaron Devendorf. They named their band after their first song, “National.” The single does not have a well-known music video, but it has done well on the alternative and rock charts. In addition, the National does not have any known festival or tour coming up. However, they did play a benefit show for the Philip’s Glass Tibet House at the New York Carnegie Hall in 2009. During that year, they played for Radio City Concert Hall in New York City. This band has also played for Barack Obama’s presidential candidacy in 2008.
