Hailing from Germany, Scorpions are a hard rocking band who have been creating music since their formation by guitarist Rudolph Schenker in 1965. Probably best known for creating the 1980's heavy metal anthem "Rock You Like a Hurricane", Scorpions have released 18 albums including Lovedrive, Virgin Killer and Love at First Sting. Scorpions first gained commercial recognition in 1979 with their Lovedrive album, but it wasn't until the 1984 release of Love at First Sting that Scorpions achieved total mainstream music success. In 1988, Scorpions became the second Western band to play in concert in the Soviet Union which not only gained them thousands of Russian fans , but also provided the inspiration to create one of the bands biggest hits, the 1989 power ballad "Winds of Change". Although Scorpions continued to play into the 90's and even still today, they never seemed to regain the enormous popularity they had back in the 1980's.
