Randy Travis is an American Country and Gospel singer from Marshville, North Carolina. He was born in 1959 and considered to be one of the most successful contemporary Country and Gospel recording artists of this era. He has led a prolific and productive career releasing over 20 full length album recordings. Randy Travis has had a very impressive list of awards and musical nominations. Some of those include, 6 number one albums, 10 AMA awards, 7 Dove awards, 6 Grammy's, and 6 CMA awards. In addition, Randy Travis has sold over 25 million records worldwide to much critical acclaim and success. Travis is well known for his vocal and guitar playing as well as touring the world many times over. Travis also acted in over 25 films in his career as well as releasing many compilation albums, holiday records and live albums. In 2012, Randy Travis was arrested for being drunk in public in Texas, and was sentenced to 90 days of probation. Later that year, he was found lying naked and drunk in the road and was arrested again and hit with a hefty fine. Despite having a few public disturbances, his professional career has been largely successful and influential with a long list of popular Country music songs under his belt. He still performs with his band occasionally.
