I'm a fan
Mayer Hawthorne is a musician who gives an old style of music a modern twist through songs like "I Wish it Would Rain" and "Just Ain't Gonna Work Out". His voice is reminiscent of the old school sounds of Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield and Smokey Robinson and his songs would not sound out of place in the 60's and 70's soul category of music.
Mayer Hawthorne may be relatively new on the music scene, but his music has already gained both a fan following and the praise of music critics. His funky, 70's inspired vintage sound can be heard on 3 albums, 2009's A Strange Arrangement and 2011's Mayer Hawthorne and the County Direct and How Do You Do, the latter of which has pushed him into the spotlight in the music world. Along with being a talented, vintage soul style singer, Mayer Hawthorne also has great stage presence and when he goes on tour he mesmerizes fans through the concert experience. Mayer Hawthorne has played live around the world, and has made appearances at popular music festivals like Chicago's North Coast Music Festival.
