Maxwell is an R&B musician who is considered to be one of the inventors of the neo-soul genre of music. In 1996, Maxwell released his first album, Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite, which produced the hit "Ascension (Don't Ever Wonder) and earned him a Grammy Award nomination. Following the success of Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite, Maxwell went on to release 4 more albums including 2001's Now and 2009's BLACKsummer'snight, and he is well known for putting on quite a concert as experienced during his Now Tour and Maxwell 08 Tour. Throughout his career, Maxwell has been nominated for and won numerous awards, including 5 Soul Train Awards, 1 Image Award and a 2010 Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for his hit single "Pretty Wings".
