Jhene Aiko Efuru Chilombo, who performs under the stage name Jhene Aiko, is an American singer. Born March 16, 1988 in California, the vocalist identifies Tupac, Aaliyah, Eminem and John Mayer as influences to her song writing and performance. Aiko's work is a mix of indie pop, R&B and neo soul, blending slow tempo songs with fast, upbeat tracks. Early in her career, she was first featured on album tracks for the R&B group B2K. Aiko also appeared in music videos for artists such as F.Y.T, O'Ryan and Lil' Fizz. She had some of her own songs appear on several soundtrack albums, including You Got Served and Barbershop.

The compilation included collaborations with well-known artists, including Kanye West and Drake. In 2012, Aiko was signed by No I.D. to Atrium Records, part of Def Jam records. Subsequently, she appeared as the opening act for concert tours that headlined Nas, Lauryn Hill, and Drake.
