Joel Thomas Zimmerman, better known by his stage name deadmau5, is a Canadian born progressive and electro house musician based out of Toronto. Known for his popular electronic live concert performances and festival appearances, Zimmerman began his career in the 1990s. Zimmerman has achieved mainstream success with his music being featured in video games, television, and movies.

Zimmerman took a liking to computers from an early age and was heavily influenced by the chiptune movement, using old computer chips to compose music. A dedicated musician known for performing night after night at sold out shows on tour, Zimmerman's devotion to his music is so great that he has passed out while performing due to exhaustion.

Deadmau5 is known for creative and exciting live performances and is easily recognized by the large mouse head often worn during live concert shows which has become iconic of deadmau5's image. Described as one of the most influential electronic musicians today, deadmau5 has received many awards and nominations including a Grammy nomination.
