Formed in 1983 in Sayreville, New Jersey, the 1980s were the Golden Age for Bon Jovi, named for the lead singer whose name is Jon Bon Jovi, or more accurately John Francis Bongiovi, Jr. With a consistent line-up, a skill at writing rock anthems such as "Livin' on a Prayer" and "Wanted Dead or Alive," well-attended tour, concert and festival appearances and a stable of well-loved music video offerings, it is no wonder Bon Jovi still has fans nearly 30 years after its formation.
Before guitarist Richie Sambora joined the group, he had already spent a tour with singer Joe Cocker and had been called up to audition for the band Kiss. Drummer Tico Torres, keyboardist David Bryan and most recent and current bassist Hugh McDonald round out the band's members.
With 11 studio albums, three compilation albums and one concert album, Bon Jovi has sold over 130 million albums around the globe.
Bon Jovi appeared at the Moscow Music Peace Festival and was the first Western band afforded such welcome and sanctioning by the Soviet Union. The landmark event provided the following live music video of the band's hit "Bad Medicine." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEXR2sCz_TQ&feature=related
With nearly three decades of beloved music, Bon Jovi shows no sign of slowing down.
